Patient and Public Involvement

We regularly gather feedback from our service users about our service in general, as well as focusing on individual aspects or projects that we have been working on. The information provided by this is then fed back to the therapy radiographer team through each of our departmental team briefs and any gaps in service, or issues arising, are identified and measures put in place to address these.

We have found our best medium for gathering feedback is through feedback cards but we are looking into new ways of information gathering in our department.

To date we have been able to use comments and suggestions provided by our service users to make significant improvements in the radiotherapy service in Belfast City Hospital and to help improve the overall experience if those coming through our doors.

Some of the initiatives, stemming from service user feedback, include establishment of monthly patient information evenings, a special needs working group, Dementia working group, development of dual language cards for patients for whom English is not their first language, and radiotherapy patient information video. Alongside these all specialisms within the radiotherapy department are actively working to gather feedback from their service user groups.
